In 2008
Youth on Target produced a newly devised version of
Cinderella. Using the methods of Suzuki and Viewpoints
the cast created a unique and modern take on the classic
fairy tale. Both light-hearted and serious, Youth on
Target’s production focuses on the way that individuals
deal with loss. At the start of the play Cinderella and
her family have suffered a great loss. Humor, romance,
material distraction, family and friends all play a roll
in how the characters cope with loss. Youth On Target
poses several questions in this piece. Should Cinderella
pursue the prince, or is he just a replacement or a
distraction? How do you strike a balance between finding
strength in others and finding strength in yourself? Can
you help someone else, when you need help yourself?
